A 29-year-old man has been identified as the victim of a Monday fatal shooting in a southeast Calgary Super 8 hotel, Calgary police say — the city’s fourth homicide of 2024.
Police were called Monday to a Super 8 by Wyndham hotel in the 0-100 block of Shawville Road S.E. for reports of a shooting, where they found a man inside one of the rooms suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was declared deceased at the scene.

Police have deemed the shooting a homicide, CPS said in a Tuesday afternoon statement, adding investigators believe it was a targeted incident and presented no risk to other hotel guests.
Officers took one person into custody at the scene. They have since been released, police said, and no arrests have been made.
CPS’ homicide unit is currently speaking to witnesses, gathering information and reviewing CCTV surveillance footage.
After a Tuesday autopsy, Calgary police identified the victim as 29-year-old Liban Abdirahman.
