To the golf course. Or, more specifically, to world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, apparently.

The hockey superstar appeared on Hockey Night in Canada ahead of Saturday’s game versus the Maple Leafs and was asked if he likes to watch other great athletes, and if so, who is he inpired by.

“I love all sports. I love the great players, when they step up in big moments,” McDavid said. “I think about Scottie Scheffler a couple weekends ago at the Players, what he did on Sunday, it’s unbelievable.”

Scheffler shot an eight-under par 64 on Sunday at TPC Sawgrass to become the first player to go back-to-back in the Players Championship’s 50-year history. Scheffler came back from five strokes behind in the final round, also a tournament record.

“The sporting world is an incredible place with increcible athletes and it’s fun just to see them do their thing,” McDavid said.

Hockey players love their golf.

There is a Connor McDavid in Golf Canada’s directory playing out of Magna Golf Club — an exclusive country club north of Toronto — with a current handicap of 12.2. Maybe he can hit the 2022 Masters champ up for a few lessons this summer.
