Police believe he was stabbed in an altercation a few blocks west, near 101 Street, the news release said. An autopsy performed on Wednesday confirmed the cause of death as homicide.

First to be arrested this week was Dakota Johnson, 31, who is charged with second degree murder and assault with a weapon in relation to Tjaveondja’s death

Police later arrested Byron Cardinal, 32, who is similarly charged with second degree murder and assault with a weapon.

Tjaveondja did not know either of the two suspects, the news release said.

Detectives are still investigating as they believe more people may have been involved in the altercation, the release said. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has security or dashcam footage is asked to contact police.
