Red Deer resident Jessica Lavallee, 35, is facing four charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one for possession of the proceeds of crime. RCMP say additional charges are pending.

Lavallee was released on bail and is set to appear in court in Drumheller on May 17.

This isn’t the first bust in relation to the ongoing, more than year-long investigation at the Drumheller prison. Mounties arrested three people after catching an alleged attempt to fly illicit substances into the penitentiary with a drone last March.

Drumheller Mounties say the investigation has involved several agencies, including other RCMP units, officers at Drumheller Penitentiary, Calgary and Edmonton police, and more.

Anyone with information on the operation is asked to contact Drumheller RCMP or their local police or provide a tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers.

Drumheller is located 130 kilometres northeast of Calgary.
