The historic Edmonton “Queen” Riverboat is being put on the market for the second time in a decade, just as it comes off the dock for some much-needed repairs.
The news was announced on a Facebook post and e-mails sent to guests Wednesday, imploring perspective buyers to “explore the unique potential in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
“As we embark on this new chapter, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support since we acquired the vessel in 2016,” read the statement posted to the boat’s website and Facebook page.
The sections of the Riverboat’s website intended for event listings, ticket sales, and private bookings, now redirect visitors to sign up for a newsletter.
This is the second time in 10 years that the former Edmonton Queen has been looked for new ownership. In May 2016, the boat was sold to Jay Esterer at auction for $553,000.
Esterer repaired the boat multiple times, including in 2020 when the hull was damaged by a sudden rise and fall in water levels, lowering the boat onto an underwater pillar.
It has sailed the North Saskatchewan River through downtown Edmonton since 1995.
“To our loyal patrons: rest assured, we are committed to ensuring a seamless transition and maintaining the exceptional standards you’ve come to expect.” the statement said.
Customers with gift certificates and vouchers will be honoured in the sales agreement.
