Firefighters in Gatineau quelled a trailer fire at a homeless encampment early Monday morning.

A press release from the city’s fire department said emergency crews were called to 85 Morin Street, near the camp by the Gîte ami shelter, around 5 a.m. and that two people were inside the trailer.

The fire could have caused explosions, as there were propane canisters in the trailer and nearby, the fire department said in a French statement. But there were no injuries, and the fire did not spread to nearby trailers.

The fire department said Gatineau police are investigating the cause of the fire.
