The Windsor area once again basked under sunny skies on Tuesday near the end of an unusually warm winter.
And even more nice weather is in store through the rest of the week after a forecasted high temperature on Tuesday of 17 Celsius.

Tuesday’s top temperature was well above the average high for mid-March, which ranges from around 4 C to 6 C depending on the day. Last year on March 12, the high temperature was 0.2 C, according to Environment Canada.

Despite the unseasonable warmth, there were no weather records set on Tuesday. According to Environment Canada, the highest temperature on record for the day since the 1940s was 22.9 C, set in 1990. The lowest recorded temperature was -18.3 C in 1948.
History has also presented far snowier conditions. On March 12, 1960, Windsor was blanketed by 23 cm of snow.
Sunny skies return Wednesday with an even warmer forecasted high of 18 C. It will remain relatively warm through the work week with a forecasted high of 15 C on Thursday and 11 C on Friday. The temperature will continue its slide over the weekend, dropping back to a frostier 2 C on Monday with a chance of snow flurries.
The warm weather so far this week is part of an ongoing trend, with this winter offering up unseasonably warm weather since the start of the season in December.
On Feb. 27, Windsorites enjoyed the warmest February day in the city’s history with a high of 21.2 C. That was the warmest February day since the start of record keeping in 1867.
And there’s more good news. The winter season officially ends March 19.
