MONTREAL — Six years to the day since a Montreal boy vanished, the Missing Children’s Network is hoping a photo showing what he might look like today could help find him.
Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou was 10 years old when he went missing from the north-end borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville.
After he went to see a friend who wasn’t home, surveillance cameras captured Ariel entering but never leaving a riverside park on the banks of the Rivière des Prairies.
The Missing Children’s Network released a digitally aged sketch of Ariel today produced by Quebec provincial police experts to depict what he could look like as a 16-year-old.
Montreal police, who are in charge of the investigation, said in 2018 that they believed the boy accidentally drowned in the river, a theory the family refused to accept.
Ariel’s father, Frédéric Kouakou, said in a statement today he hopes releasing the image will stimulate new tips and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
