All that snow might be melting, but the City of Saskatoon says a pile of snow that might look like an attractive playground can still pose a serious threat.
In a news release on Saturday, the city said that when the piles are in the road or busy parking lots, fun seekers can slide into the path of an oncoming vehicle, and equipment operators moving snow may not be able to see or react in time to avoid injury.

They city also asked people to remember that snow piles often have soft spots or air pockets that it is possible to fall into, and walking on the piles can cause them to collapse and potentially suffocate anyone trapped underneath.
The city said that grading in residential neighbourhoods and industrial areas is continuing and crews have started to address the snow piles along the roadways where they are affecting sightlines. Drivers should proceed with caution near intersections and crosswalks.
Snow piles will only be removed from priority one streets and removal is expected to begin on Monday and should take approximately two weeks, the city added. Snow removal on residential streets will not take place unless there is a localized serious safety concern or significant drainage issue.
