The Pinellas County’s Sheriff’s Office in Florida confirmed on Wednesday that the Underwater Search and Recovery Team had located the body of a missing swimmer, 17-year-old William Zhang. Detectives said Zhang was visiting Florida from Quebec with his swim team for a swim camp.
Zhang and other members of the swim team were doing swimming drills in the Gulf of Mexico, and Zhang did not return to the shore after the drills were over.

The swimming coaches checked for riptides and hazards before the drill, according to the detectives.
The search efforts were done by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Indian Shores Police Department, Pinellas Suncoast Fire Rescue, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), and the United States Coast Guard.
The police also added that at 5:23 p.m. Wednesday, Zhang was located and pronounced deceased.
The incident does not appear suspicious in nature, according to the police. Next of kin has been notified.
News reports say he was a student at Notre-Dame.
