Police in the Upper Ottawa Valley region report that more than 90 grams of suspected cocaine and a two-kilogram Chihuahua were seized in a raid in Pembroke on Tuesday.

In a release, the Ontario Provincial Police noted the tiny dog had been reported missing on Feb. 24.

Police said a variety of trafficking paraphernalia was also seized, including cash, digital scales and cellphones.

A  36-year-old Pembroke man and a 30-year-old woman were each charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking: cocaine.

The woman was facing an addition charge of failing to comply with a probation order.

A second Pembroke man, age 25, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl. He was also charged with failure to attend court.

As for the recovered Chihuahua, OPP spokesman Const. Shawn Peever said: “The dog appeared healthy and it was returned to its owner in Pembroke.”
