Provincial police have charged a 48-year-old man in connection with a number of historical sexual offences.

In a release, the OPP said the offences allegedly occurred “throughout 2007 and 2008, while the accused was a senior administrator at an educational facility in South Glengarry Township.”

Students from Quebec and Ontario attended the school for education and to study theology.

The Stormont Dundas and Glengarry detachment’s crime unit launched an inquiry in January 2023.

On March 1, 2024, SD&G detectives travelled to Calgary to arrest the suspect at the Calgary Police Department.

He was charged with:

  • Two counts of sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age, and;
  • Three counts of sexual exploitation.

The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on April 3.

A court-ordered publication ban has now been placed on proceedings in the case.
