Firefighters stopped an early kitchen blaze from spreading within a home in the city’s west end on Sunday.

OFS say they received a call at around 2:48 a.m. from a neighbour reporting a smoke detector going off in a nearby home on the 1000 block of Cavan Street.

Firefighter arrived on scene and confirmed that there was a smokey haze into the kitchen. They discovered it was caused by a burning pot on the stove.

They removed it from the home before the fire could spread to the kitchen.

No injuries were reported.
