Police say this year’s attacks are more convincing than ever with communications more realistic and appearing legitimate using Government of Canada logos.

The hope is someone will click on the link that directs them to their web page where the fraudsters steal personal information, such as passwords and social insurance numbers.

Police are reminding everyone that CRA will not ask you for personal or financial information by email or to click on a re-directing link.

If unsure, visit the true CRA website at canada.ca/en/revenue-agency.html or contact them directly.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fraud Bureau at 905-453–2121, ext. 3335, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
