Some people with an iPhone and an iPad may just want to leave the features made for a phone exclusively on their iPhone. They just want to send off text messages and receive phone calls on the device they are made for and not the tablet they use for reading books and watching TV shows. If you are one of these people, it is possible to disconnect those. First, unpairing messages:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPad.
  2. Scroll down and select the Messages option.
  3. Toggle off the iMessage option.

The process is just as easy for phone call notifications, but instead of doing this on your iPad, you have to do it on your iPhone.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and select the Phone option.
  3. Select the Calls on Other Devices button.
  4. Toggle off Allow Calls on Other Devices.

After you have done all these things, your iPhone and iPad will be free from each other and can be used as separate entities.
