The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Oppo Find N2 Flip are two clamshell foldables that look strikingly similar at a glance.
From their eye-catching pastel finishes to their folding inner screens and dual rear cameras, these two modern flip phones have much in common. They also have a good number of differences.

Design and display
Regarding their designs, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is slightly more narrow and lightweight than the Oppo Find N2 Flip, albeit not by much. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 also carries an IP rating of IPX8 whereas the Find N2 Flip has no water resistance rating.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes in a wider variety of colours, including Mint, Graphite, Cream, Lavender, Grey, Blue, Green and Yellow. The Find N2 Flip is available in two colours – Astral Black and Moonlit Purple.
Of course, both the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Find N2 Flip feature foldable displays. Both AMOLED screens feature smooth 120Hz refresh rates and support HDR10+, though the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a slightly higher peak brightness of 1750 nits over the Find N2 Flip’s 1600 nits. We also found that each phone featured gapless folding mechanisms.
Moving on to their AMOLED cover screens, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a larger, more square-shaped cover screen that takes up the majority of the top of the phone, while the Find N2 Flip has a smaller, rectangular cover screen.
Specs and features
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a custom version of Qualcomm’s 2023 flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, making it very powerful. The Oppo Find N2 Flip, meanwhile, runs on the Mediatek Dimensity 9000+, offering performance that falls just short of flagship.
Both phones are configurable with up to 512GB storage, but the Galaxy tops out at 8GB RAM whereas the Find N2 Flip includes up to 16GB RAM
Both phones also run custom UIs on top of the Android operating system, with the Galaxy Z Flip 5 sporting One UI and the Find N2 Flip featuring ColorOS.
Camera
Though the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Oppo Find N2 Flip both have dual rear cameras, the Find N2 Flip has a larger 50-megapixel main sensor followed by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. The Galaxy Z Flip 5, on the other hand, has a 12-megapixel main sensor along with a second 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor.
We found the cameras on the Find N2 Flip to be great in bright environments, delivering vibrant, detailed snaps. However, low-light performance fell short. The same goes for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 which captures Samsung’s trademark vivid colours and detailed shots in daylight but lacks the same amount of detail when the light level drops.
Both cameras are capable of capturing 4K video but the Galaxy Z Flip 5 can record at 60fps, whereas the Find N2 Flip is limited to 30fps at this resolution.
Finally, the Find N2 Flip has a 32-megapixel front camera, while the Galaxy has a smaller 10-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls. That said, you can easily use the rear camera and cover screen to snap higher-resolution selfies.
Battery
The Oppo Find N2 Flip has a bigger battery at 4300 mAh. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, meanwhile, has a smaller 3700 mAh battery.
We found that we were able to get a full day of use from the Find N2 Flip with around 20-30% charge left most evenings. We put the Galaxy Z Flip 5 through a similar day and were left with just 5-15%, putting it behind the Oppo phone when it comes to battery endurance.
Both foldables make use of USB Type-C charging, with the Galaxy Z Flip 5 offering support for 25W wired charging, and the Find N2 Flip delivering faster 44W wired charging.
However, the Find N2 Flip does not support wireless charging. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 supports 15W wireless charging.
Final verdict
The Samsung Z Flip 5 and the Oppo Find N2 Flip might look similar from afar, but inside there are plenty of differences to consider.
The Z Flip 5 has a brighter screen and a faster chipset than the Find N2 Flip. It also supports wireless charging. The Find N2 Flip, on the other hand, includes a larger camera sensor and a bigger battery with faster wired charging.
Another important factor to note is cost. Prices for the Find N2 Flip start at £849, while those for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 start at £1049. This makes the Oppo phone £200 cheaper than the Samsung for those still stuck on the fence between the two clamshell foldables.
