SnowTrex, the largest German ski travel provider, has released a comprehensive ranking of ski resorts in the Alps with the highest snow reliability. The data analysis examines 50 ski resorts based on their highest points of the resorts and data on snowfall from the past four years.
Skiing requires snow, but due to ongoing climate change, many ski resorts have increasingly faced a lack of snow in recent years.
While resorts often respond with measures such as snow cannons, this provides an imperfect solution for both operators and winter sports enthusiasts.
Currently, some areas in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are closed as the slopes are not accessible due to a lack of snow.
The following ranking showcases the top 10 Alpine ski destinations currently promising high snow reliability. The analysis includes data from the last four years on average snowfall in the valley location of the ski resort. Since snow reliability also depends on altitude, the ranking also considers the highest point of each ski resort.
The evaluation of ski resorts with the highest snow reliability is part of a comprehensive analysis of the best ski resorts in the Alps for the 2023/24 season, published by SnowTrex in November 2023.
