Ukrainian forces have shot down one of Russia’s most expensive warplanes over eastern Luhansk on Monday.

The Russia Su-34 fighter jet which costs around $36 million is now the third warplane shot down over the past month, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reported.

He wrote on Facebook, “Estimated losses of the enemy last day were: 960 Russian occupants, 10 tanks, 29 combat armored vehicles, 31 artillery systems, 3 air defense vehicles, 1 Su-34 aircraft in the Luhansk region, 35 operational and tactical drones, 42 cars and 5 special equipment units.”

The Su-34 fighter jet is one of Russia’s top frontline bomber which can launch laser-guided bombs of even long-range missiles and is fitted with air-to-air missiles.

It is unclear what happened to the crew of the Soviet twin-engine two seat fighter jet, said a Ukrainian military spokesperson Andrii Kovalyov.

Ukrainian government adviser Anton Gerashchenko said on X, “In total, according to the general staff, since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Moscow has lost 332 aircrafts.

“We thank our heroes for their excellent work.”
