The virtual reality extraction shooter Ghosts of Tabor hits the Meta Quest Store today after hitting big numbers on Steam.

After a year of early access on App Lab, Beyond Frames Entertainment and Combat Waffle Studios said their shooter has reached 500,000 unique players and over $10 million in combined revenue on Steam and Meta Quest to date.

Scott Albright, CEO of Port Charlotte, Florida-based Combat Waffle Studios, said in a statement, “We started Combat Waffle with 9 people, new to the VR development scene, and with a dream – to bring our love of extraction shooters to VR. It’s hard to believe that only 22 months after launching our studio, we’ve amassed such a massive and dedicated community.”

Ghosts of Tabor combines player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) elements in an extraction survival FPS. The game’s success is marked by its realistic weaponry, modeled after real-world counterparts, and its immersive gameplay that includes scavenging, looting, crafting and combat.

Maeva Sponbergs, head of publishing at Stockholm-based Beyond Frames Entertainment, said in a statement, “Combat Waffle has truly delivered something exciting to the VR community and proven that concepts from PC and console games can be translated over to immersive platforms with care and dedication.”

Ghosts of Tabor supports cooperative multiplayer with squads of up to three players. The graduation to the Meta Quest Store marks a significant milestone, and the game will continue to evolve in response to player feedback and preferences.

Ghosts of Tabor generated $10 million in revenue to date.

The game, priced at $20 on App Lab and Steam VR through January 31, will be available for preorder on the Meta Quest Store for $25 shortly. The Steam version will also retail for $25 starting on the same date. Users who purchased the game on App Lab will automatically own Ghosts of Tabor on the Meta Quest Store from February 8.

Combat Waffle Studios, founded in 2022, is a United States military veteran-owned game studio. Upcoming releases include titles Grim and Silent North. Learn more about Combat Waffle Studios here.
