For city centre living

This five-bedroom penthouse is situated in a late 19th-century building on a quiet street in Stockholm’s central district, Norrmalm. The property consists of two floors and has been extensively renovated — the large living and dining space on the first floor retain restored dark wood features, with in-built cabinetry, while the attic, accessed via a stone staircase, has exposed ceiling beams and a remarkable brick floor. There is a large primary bedroom suite and two roof terraces with views across the city to the churches of Adolf Fredrik and St John. The property is on the market for SKr44mn ($4.2mn).

For unbroken views

The award winning OMA-designed Norra Tornen (northern towers) are the tallest buildings in Stockholm, a city that has few high-rise structures, meaning the views afforded in three different directions from this two-bedroom apartment on the 25th floor stretch far across the city (also main picture, above). There are two balconies with glass railings and large “panoramic” windows throughout to make the most of the views. Residents of the property, which is on the market for SKr16.35mn ($1.5mn), also have access to a shared roof terrace, cinema, gym, sauna and garage.

For a light-filled living room

This two-bedroom corner apartment is located in a well-preserved 1912 brick building in Södermalm, the southern district of Stockholm city centre. The property has been recently renovated, preserving period details such as the stucco and woodwork, and the large living room and kitchen/dining room can be separated by the original sliding doors. The property, which has two balconies — one on to the street, from the master bedroom, and one facing the quiet courtyard — is on the market for SKr14.5mn ($1.4mn).

For a spacious loft

This three-bedroom duplex apartment was converted from the attic of an early 20th-century building in Vasastan in 2008 and has recently been renovated. In addition to the large open-plan kitchen, living and dining room on the main floor, which features a working fireplace, granite worktops and a balcony with infrared heating, a staircase leads to the principal bedroom and walk-in wardrobe. The property, which is on the market for SKr18mn ($1.7mn), is less than 100m from Stockholm Odenplan station, making much of central Stockholm accessible in less than 15 minutes.

For a family home

A short walk from the sprawling Vasaparken in central Stockholm, this five-bedroom apartment has several spacious living areas that can be easily opened or separated, making it ideal for family life. The property, which is located in a well-maintained building from 1885, has a working fireplace, and both the master bedroom and the kitchen have balconies on to the quiet west-facing courtyard. It is on the market for SKr25mn ($2.4mn).
