Advanced Micro Devices announced today it is launching its latest GPUs aimed at players who want to play the games of 2024.

The AMD Radeon 7600 XT 16GB and AMD Radeon 7600 XT 8GB are aimed at the middle and low-end of the gamer market — people who haven’t refreshed their gaming hardware in a while. AMD showed off the new GPUs at CES 2024, the big tech trade show in Las Vegas this week.

AMD noted that 50% of PC gamers are not having a great experience because they’re running big games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Starfield and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora well below the optimal 60 frames per second at 1080p resolution.

AMD said the new GPUs are up to 1.9 times faster at gaming and raytracing than the GeForce RTX 2060 in select games at 1080p. It can display games at 1440p resolution and it has processing power for AI and content creation.

The 7600 and the 7600 XT both have 32 compute units and ray accelerators as well as 64 AI accelerators and 2,048 stream processors. But the 7600 XT runs at 2.47 GHz while the 7600 runs at 2.25 GHz. The 7600 XT has twice as much graphics memory and both share memory speed of 18 Gbps and a memory bus of 128 bits.

The 7600 XT consumes up to 190 watts while the 7600 is up to 165 watts. The aforementioned games like Starfield will run at 60FPS at 1440p or get similar results. The 7600 XT is available in January and the 7600 is coming in May.

AMD has also improved its encoding and video quality, and made improvements for streaming and OBS optimizations. It’s also faster on AI applications such as Stable Diffusion, Cinebench and more.

The 7600 XT is available on January 24 at $329, while the 7600 will be reach in May for $269. Partners include Acer, ASRock Asus, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire and XFX.

Ryzen processors

AMD Ryzen AI

AMD is also launching its AMD Ryzen 8040 Series processors, built on a foundation of neural processing units based on AMD XDNA and central processing units based on the Zen 4 architecture.

The desktop processor will also be the worlds first desktop processor with a dedicated AI engine, AMD said, with a combined 39 TFLOPs of processing power. AMD said the AI processing will help with performance, security, efficiency and future costs. There are over 100 experiences optimized for Ryzen AI today, AMD said.

AMD said the AMD Ryzen 8000G Series Processor can produce the fastes desktop PC graphics in the world. Paired with the Radeon 700M Series graphics, games are much more fluid. AMD said it can run Hitman 3 four times faster than a similar Intel Core i7-14700K processor with Intel graphics.

AMD said it already has leadership in AI processing on the client compared to Intel. Data from the AMD Core Ultra 7 155H shows that the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U is 1.43 times faster at Yolov8, 1.79 times faster at Deeplabv3 and 1.04 times faster at MobileNetv3. On StableDiffusion, it is 1.06 times faster than Core Ultra 7 155H.

AMD Ryzen AI

On games, AMD said the Ryzen 7 8840U with Radeon 780M graphics is 1.02 times to 1.6 times faster than Intel Core Ultra 7 155H with Intel Arc graphics.

AMD also said it has a 5000 Series Ryzen processor family for AM4, with a focus on gaming. Prices range from $125 to $249.
